Delicious tabouleh

Jordan is an Arab country in western Asia with borders touching Saudi Arabia, Iraq, and Syria. It is one of the largest producers of olives in the world and when it comes to food, Jordanian cuisine has some of the most delicious and amazing dishes which are irresistible.

Although there are many varieties in Jordanian food, some are very famous such as Kanafeh, the national dish of Jordan. Here are some of the famous Jordanian food recipes. Let’s start with Kanafeh:

  • 250 grams mascarpone cheese
  • 300 grams kataifi pastry
  • 250 ml rose syrup
  • 3 tablespoon pistachios
  • 350 grams of melted butter
  • 2 tablespoon dried edible rose petals

  • To make rose syrup, take 1 cup of water, 300 grams of white sugar, one tablespoon of lemon juice, and two tablespoons of rose water. Take a saucepan and put water and sugar. Boil and after sometime lower the heat and simmer for 5 minutes or until it thickens. Let it cool and then, add lemon juice and rose water. Stir and refrigerate.
  • To make Kanafeh, shred the kataifi pastry in a food processor.
  • Put the shredded pastry in a bowl and pour more than half of the melted butter. Leave some and then mix the shredded pastry and butter.
  • Shred the mozzarella in the food processor and transfer it into a bowl. Add the mascarpone cheese and using a wooden spatula, mix and beat the two cheese together until both are combined.
  • Put half of the pastry mixed with butter into a pan and pat it down. Top it with the cheese mixture and top the cheese mixture with another pastry mix. Then, tap it down with gentle hands.
  • Bake it in an oven for about 35-40 minutes until it turns golden. After it is baked, take the tray out of the oven and let the dish cool for some time.
  • Using a knife to take out the extra cheese or pastry sticking to the dish, flip the dish into a serving plate
  • Pour the cold refrigerated syrup on it until it is absorbed and become glazed. Let it cool for some time and cut into the shape of your choice. Serve it with the extra syrup and some pistachios.

Knafeh is one of the most loved and favorite Jordanian desserts although there are many sweet dishes in Jordan.

There is one another dish which is among the most famous Jordanian food and that is Mansaf. This amazing dish is made with rice, lamb, and Jammed (yogurt made with goat milk, dried and fermented, and then rehydrated to make gravy). This is the element which makes this dish very unique because the jammed gives this dish a sour and salty taste. Also, the lamb and rice taste awesome.
